The trio features Oestreicher and Peake away from their acoustic instruments
(saxes & drums respectively). Instead, they sit at their controls of their
electronic gadgetry while, Albert, their ‘3rd of 3”, performs
acoustically and into Peake’s software instrument, catalyzing a synergistic
effect that yields a robust and relevant body of musical data.
Justin Peake has performed on drums and/or computers in a variety of contexts
across the United States. Justin is a student of cognition and music making.
He produces solo albums under his own name and the alias Beautiful Bells as
well as
designing interactive multimedia art.
Dan Oestreicher is a member of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and The Other
Planets and has appeared with musicians such as Irvin Mayfield, James Singleton,
Michael Ray, Ralph Alessi, Randy Brecker, Herlin Riley, and Sir Earl Toon
of Kool and the Gang.
Jeff Albert is a trombonist and improviser based in New Orleans. He leads
the Jeff Albert Quintet and co-leads the Lucky 7s with Jeb Bishop. Lakefront
Digital released the Lucky 7s first CD, Farragut, in September of 2006, in
conjunction with their Chicago Jazz Fest performance. Other recent recordings
include One, a quartet CD of original compositions, and Duets Vol. 1, which
is a recording of improvised duets with guitarist Ed Barrett. Jeff can also
be heard with George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners, Michael Ray
